Warm, fuzzy, sweet bundles of joy, puppies make hearts sing and bring endless smiles.
Puppies however, can be a load of work. Training a puppy can be a challenge, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Training your puppy with calm, quite, consistent care will produce an outstanding canine citizen. Consistency is key, right along with compassionate and kind treatment.
Puppies are also high energy, and have short attention spans. By providing short walks several times a day, you will be establishing some great “rules” to live by. On your walks, make sure you are the leader, by gently correcting your puppy back to your side, ask him to wait to move instead of charging ahead, and teaching him to sit quietly. Keep your sessions short, working with in your puppy’s attention span.
By directing your puppy’s attention to you, he will learn to look to you as the leader. Make sure to love on your puppy! Puppies thrive on attention, but you might want to work on your walks first, and affection second. Exercise first will help keep your puppy focused, and be calmer in the long run, preventing accidental bites and rough house play. Proper exercise, strong guidance, and love will help your puppy grow up to be a faithful, well behaved dog that you can be proud of and take with you many places.
